American Defence Preparations
BIG ORDER FOR ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 9.20 p.m. WASHINGTON, Sept. 6. The War Department has awarded a 10,000,000-dollar contract for rapid-fire anti-aircraft guns sufficient to equip 32 regiments for the defence of key cities. The guns will be mounted on mobile units capable of 50 miles an hour. They Are French 75-m.m. shells to a height of 30,000 feet.
