Spanish Rebels’ Costly Offensive
HEAVY LOSSES IN LONG STRUGGLE NEW ITALIAN TROOPS United Press Association.—By Electric Telegra-ph-—Copyrlgrit. LONDON, Sept. G. The correspondent of the Daily Telegraph at Barcelona says that the fighting is becoming intensified on tho Ebro front as the rebels hurl against the loyalist positions 150,000 troops, which are reported to include eight Italian divisions, many of whose men recently arrived from Italy. Tho rebels are supposed to have suffered 25,000 casualties on the Ebro front in the course of five weeks of futile offorts to break through, and 20,000 casualties on the Valencia front since July. Their efforts are only now partially succeeding because they are supported by quantities of German i artillery.
