From Our Own Correspondent The annual ball of the Hamua Hocke> dub was held recently. Music was supplied by a professional orchestra and Mr J. Wolland was M.C. An extra was played by Mr C. Mitchell and an item was given by Air L>. Luke. Novelty dances were won by Mrs (J. Harrington and Mr K. Harrington, and Miss B. Harrington and Mr It. Lawrence. Visitors were pres- ' nt from Nirealm, EketAhuna, Newman, Konini, Hukanui, Pahiatua. Marlina, ICat tawa, Tane, and Mangatalnoka.. Among those dancing were Misses G. O’Donnell, wearing flame taffeta; M. Davidson, mulberry silk velvet; 13. Petersen, blue cloque; C. Davidson, blue embossed taffeta; A Brookes, tunic frock; A. Smith, blue tin sol crepe; E. Jaspers, floral; Z. Jaspers, green cellophane crepe; \V. Dixon, floral; N. Jaspers, floral georgette; Ada Lawrence, green sequin satin; A. Morrison, white taffeta; F. Drown, white velvet; M. O’Donnell, green taffeta; D. Russell, pink taffeta; J. Johanson blue marocain; It. Burgess, homy gold satin; L. IJdy, floral; J. Ryan, floral, J. Sorenson, blue taffeta; M. Mrs C. Tolley has returned from a holiday spent in Levin. Mrs T. Strahan and family have returned to Apiti after spending a holiday as tho guests of Mrs C. IJdy. Mrs Lawrenc and family were recent guests of Mrs E. Hunter. Mrs Miller and Mr J. Miller were recent visitors to Hukanui. Miss V. Hirst, of Masterlon, Is the guest of Mrs W. Hirst. Miss Mary Knibb and Mr Rex Udy have returned from a visit to Geraldine. A farewell dance to Miss A. Colder, who has taught at the local school and is now teaching in Masterton, is to be held shortly. , Mr and Mrs N. Goodin have both been confined to their beds with influenza. Another to be confined to her bed as a result of an attack of Influenza Is Miss A. Twentyman. Tho measles epidemic Is still pretty much In evidence.
