BRIGID’S CLUB REPORT The annual report of St. Brigid'a Tenuis Club, Feilding, states that the past season was a particularly favourable one for tennis players and members of the club took full advantage of the long dry summer to indulge in both practice and friendly games. The result was an all-round improvement in the standard of play in the club. The membership stood at 45 at the close of tho season. Iu the competition hold under the auspices of the New Zealand Catholic Lawn Tennis Association the team linished in second place, being narrowly defeated by tho winners, Ht. Patrick’s, of Palmerston North. Although no regular competition was j held with other local hard court clubs, several friendly games were played' with them, from which the club em-! erged with honours fairly even. Work on the courts during tho season included the top-dressing of No. 2 court, amd tho renewal of wire-netting round portions of Nos. 1 and 2 courts, and the courts could now bo regarded as being in firstclass condition. Tho season was made notable by tho opening of tho .Father Hegurty memorial court, so named in honour of tho late Rev. Father Hcgarty, who at the time of his death was patron of tho club. Tho club owes a deep debt jof gratitude to tho kindly and pracjtical interest taken iu its affairs by tho late Father Hegarty, an interest j which was maintained by tho present patron, ltev. Father Broughton. | Thanks were dut to the honorary auditor, Mr. D. C. Cullinane, to the press, and to all others who had rendered, assistance during tho past season.
