Fine Spell, Cold Temperatures

WELLINGTON, Last Night. An anti-cyc4one extends from tho western Tasman on to southern New Zealand.

Winds: Variable south of Hokitika and Banks Peninsula; elsewhere southerlies to south-easterlies prevailing, strong at first about and north of Cook Strait, but gradually decreasing, and elsewhere light to moderate.

Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough at first north of Farewell Spit and Kaikoura, but decreasing to-night; elsewhere slight to moderate.

Eastern Tasman: Moderate southerly winds, later becoming variable. Seas slight to moderate.

Weather: Passing showers in eastern districts between Cook Strait and East Cape and the far north, but improving gradually. Elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures cold with many sharp frosts.
