Few Men Unemployed

MINISTER IS GRATIFIED Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 2. Discussing unemployment, tne Labour Minister, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong said that a most favourable positior is revealed by the return of registrations on July 22, which showed that th« total physically fit married and singl« men out of work was 2080, while the lumber of jobs available was 2182. leaving 102 jobs to be filled as soon as men became available. “I do not think this has ever happened before,” said Mr. Armstrong who added that he was gratified tha such a big improvement had beer shown in the position. Normally som< increase could have been expected ir the winter in the number of men ou of work. The indications were, how ever, that if the position continued t< improve in the coming year, as it hac done in the past, the Government’: problem would be to find men for jobs not jobs for men.
