“PICK A STAR" Patsy Kelly knocks out Laurel and Hardy, Jack Haley and Rosina Lawrence crash studio gates, Mischa Auer and Lyda Roberti as scintillating movie stars, just a few hilarious highlights of the Hal Roach M-G-M feature comedy, “Pick a Star," which screens to-night and to-morrow at 7.45 p.m. Featuring film-land's best funsters and songsters, “Pick a Star" is a melodious, madcap mirthquake of the movies. Waterloo, Kansas, was the beginning for Rosina Lawrence, a screen-struck girl with Jack Haley, the hometown boy friend; Hollywood, California, was the end of a barrage on the film sets with Patsy Kelly running riot and foiling the girlcrazy idol, Mischa Auer. Fun and glamour, songs and romance, dancers and beauty are combined in this entertaining frolic behind the scenes of a Hollywood studio.
