Of particular interest in the opening ceremonies of the new assembly hall at the Palmerston North Girls’ High School yesterday was the singing of the girls, conducted by Miss Mona Dean, L.R.A.M., with Miss Jean Davey at the piano. Sweet young voices raised in the singing of the inspiring song, “Jerusalem” (Parry), also “Praise” (Dyson), “The Blacksmith” (Brahms), and “ Thanksgiving ” (Dyson), provided a very moving experience for those assembled. In voicing her appreciation of Miss Dean’s work in training the girls, the principal, Miss £. E. Stephens, said ip her they had a treasure and there were no heights to which the girls might not attain.
