New Zealand Wedding Overseas

HERRICK—ORBELL LONDON, July 6. At St. Mary's Church, Speen, Berks, the choral wedding took place on July 2, of Lieutenant Terence Desmond Herrick, R.N., son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Herrick, of Lindisfarne, Hastings, to Miss Janet Aylmer Orbell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Orbell, of Pentlow, Timaru, states an overseas correspondent. It was followed by a garden party-reception at Speen House, the country home of Mr. H. S. Savill, a few miles out of Newbury. Guests from London were met at Newbury station and driven to the old church, which is set in park-like surroundings. In the chancel the floral decorations included an archway of red and white rose?, beneath which the bride and bridegroom went up to the sacrarium after the marriage ceremony had been performed. The officiating clergy were the Rev. F. C. Sear and the Rev. H. D. Newbold. In the absence of Mr. Orbell, the bride came with Mr. H. S. Savill, who gave her away. Her wedding dress was of silver tissue, worn with a lace veil belonging to the family of Mrs. Orbell. One corner was arranged with becoming cap effect, outlined with a coronet of orange blossom and buds. A sheaf of Madonna lilies was carried. The two bridesmaids, Miss Jacqueline Ormond, of Hawke's Bay, and Miss Celia Reese, of Christchurch, were in picture dresses of pale delphinium-blue organdie over a foundation of a deepertoned silk. Into the sash waistbelts a touch of pale pink was introduced. Their bouquets were of pink and lavender sweet peas, the same flowers being used as tiara headdresses. The bridegroom was in naval uniform as also were several of his friends. Mr. Brian Herrick was best man. The ushers were Mr. lan Ritchie and Mr. John Pavey. At the reception the guests were welcomed by Mrs. Orbell, who wore an ansemble of navy and gold, and Mr. and Mrs. Savill. Miss Savill helped to entertain the guests, nearly all of whom were New Zealand friends. Mr. W. T. Ritchie, of Timaru, proposed the toast of the bride and bridegroom.
