Wrestling
EX-WORLD CHAMPION COMING On Thursday night next at the Opera House the sporting public of Manawatu will have the opportunity of seeing two of the best exponents of wrestling in I the Dominion, of whom Dean Detton was world 7 s champion less than a year ago, when ho had to submit to Bronko Nagurski, the present holder. Cowboy Raines, the other principal in this contest had, only a few weeks before Nagurski became champion, drawn with him in a full-time contest, so it would seem that the Detton—Raines match would be an even break. Raines likes the rough going and fairly revels in a mix-up, especially when the referee is not too interfering, so, judging by past contests in which oar local referee, Mr. Wally Nicholls, has allowed just the right amount of latitude, it looks as though those fortunate enough to secure seats will be treated to a rare night of thrills. It is expected that there will be an unprecedented run on the booking office and the local authorities have been requested to have the complimentary free list entirely suspended. The box plans open at Messrs. Collinson and Cunninghame 7 s on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
