Wellington Meeting Concedes To-day

WFNTBR HURDLES AND JULY STEEPLECHASE GOOD FIELDS ACCEPTED The Wellington Racing Club' winter meeting will conclude at Trentham today, the star attractions being the Winter Hurdles, the July Steeplechase, Winter Oats and the Onslow Handicap. The going at Trentham was very heavy ■for the earlier days of the meeting, but yesterday was line and there is a chance that the course will be in better order for to-day's racing. Taking a line through the form already exposed, the following horses may be well fancied in to-day’s events: Talavera Hurdles: King Mestor, Valarth, Contract. Novice Handicap; Flying Acre-Miss Waitarere-Tom Tom bracket, Great Legion, Sly Fox. July Steeplechase: Power Chief, All Irish, Bryce Street. Crofton Hack Handicap: Jan Bidd, Advance Plane, Sporting Gift. Winter Hurdles: Full of Scotch, Erination, Charade. Winter Oats: Catalogue, Sweet Rose, General Ruse. RAN GIT IKEI HUNT CLUB CARNIVAL WEEK The Rangitikei Hunt Club’s carnival week starts on Friday, July 22, with its annual ball in the Civic theatre, Marton, when Tom Udy's dance band from Featherston will provide the music for the programme of dances. Steeplechase Meeting On the following day the Hunt Club will hold its annual steeplechase meeting on the Marton racecourse, the first race starting at 12 noon. The following attractive programme has been arranged:— Glenmore Maiden Race, of £100; two-year-olds, 8.5; three-year-olds and upwards, 8.10; 5 furlongs. Rosobank Hack Hurdles, of £135; 1$ fiiiles. Closeburn Hack Flying, of £120; 5 furlongs. Rangitikei Hunt Cup Steeplechase, of £l6O and canteen of cutlery presented by James Buchanan and Co. valued at £25; for qualified hunters; minimum weight, 9st.; 2£ miles.
