Feilding Returned Soldiers
BRANCH EXECUTIVE MEETING The executive of the Feilding branch of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association met on Thursday evening, Mr. B. McLeod (president) presiding. There were also present Messrs. C. li. Tate, F. J. Allen, H. Brooker, C. V. Jewell, W. G. Booth, A. Clifford and A. F. McKenzie (Bunnythorpe). The meeting considered at length various pension cases, it being reported that one in particular had been successfully finalised. Proposals for inviting a contingent of Australian ex-soldiers to .New Zealand for the centenary celebrations in 1940 was the subject of a circular letter received from headquarters of the R.S.A. This letter emphasised the necessity that branches should not take any independent action in connection wth the proposed trip as all arrangements were required to be made through headquarters. At the moment no programme had been decided upon. The president was appointed to represent the branch at the annual meeting of delegates to be held in Wellington this month.
The membership was reported to be steadily growing and now stood at 126, excluding the membership of the Haieombe branch.
Arrangements in connection with the ladies' evening to bo held next week were finalised, and the secretary stated that the gathering promised to b-.» etc of the most successful yet.
