From Our Own Correspondent. Te Awahou Scouts. Mr James Macdonald presided over the monthly meeting of tho group committee of the Te Awahou Scouts. A satisfactory account was given of the recent concert and dance, and votes of thanks were accorded those who had in any way assisted, special reference being made to the generosity of those who had placed cars at tha disposal of the Palmers-ton North party. Scoutmaster Retter submitted a report on the efforts of the members of the troop and stated the roll was still increasing. During the month, three Tenderfoot badges, one Second Class badge, four three-year and three two-year service badges were presented; also one proficiency Gardener's badge. Mr A. G. Thomson, on behalf of the Scout committee, presented Mrs Ebbett with an attache case and a letter press as a token of appreciation of her services as secretary and treasurer. Mrs Ebbett acknowledged the gift and thanked the committee for its kindness. Mr Shorthouse also made a presentation of a case of pipes to Mr J. Macdonald, and in doing so expressed appreciation of the able manner in which the recipient had carried out his duties as chairman and concert organiser during the past eighteen months. Mr Shorthouse referred to Mr Macdonald’s pending trip abroad and expressed the hope that when he sat down for a quiet smoke while away, he would let his thought return to his many Foxton friends. Mr Macdonald, in acknowledging the gift, said that he had always enjoyed his work with the Scouts and the committee. He hoped that the movement, which was doing good work, would long continue to prosper. Social Afternoon. At the monthly meeting of the Horowhenua Power Board, a letter was received from the foxton Harbour Board, asking for an extension of the power line across the old river bed to serve the west ond of the resort. A petition containing twelve signatories was enclosed. The chairman (Mr G. A. Monk) said that since the last meeting he had visited the beach in company with the Harbour Board representatives, and Inspected the locality. “The position is,” said Mr Monk, “the Harbour Board owns the land, which it leases on long terms to its tenants. Section holders in the west end are anxious that the power should be extended. There are not a great number of houses in the locality now, but it is claimed that the people will follow the power. As a Board we like to follow the people, but we cannot always do that and it is possible that something can be done in this instance.” Mr W. E. Barber said that there was no doubt that the west end of the beach was rapidly becoming the popular area at the resort and as far as the Power Board was concerned he considered the proposed extension quite a safe proposition. It was decided that the engineer draw up an estimate of the proposed work for submission to the next meeting of the Board. Personal. Mr J.
