ANSWER TO VEGETABLE PUZZLE This puzzle was solved simply by taking the first letter of each word right through the paragraphs, thus giving the following vegetables:— 1. Sprout. 2. Leek. 3. Bean. 4. Beet. 5. Pea. 6. Parsnip. 7. Carrot. 8. Onion. 9. Potato. 10. Marrow. Now wasn’t that easy? GOLDEN WILLOW RHYMES AGAIN Feilding. Dear Hub, For me the moment has come, And with my pen I write, At the time of setting sun, With all it’s radiant light, The shortest day has passed And truly I am pleased That Spring is near at last. Now shoots appear on trees, Jonquils gaily flowering, And violets peeping out, Rain has ceased it’s showering To let our bulbs a-sprout. The show was very good, And dodge-’ems weren’t so bad, The chairoplanes once, I stood, For the first time, and was glad. The Massey Capping “Revue” I’ll say was simply great. Hundreds saw it, Hub, did you? I stayed till it was late, Rythm, mirth and melody, The boys put on the show, That greatly appealed to me, How they did it, I don’t know. The ballets, Oh! were beautiful, One had to laugh or scream, And not just to bo dutiful, But because it was a scene! Many pictures I have 3een,
“The Buccaneer” was nice, Then my favourite, Bobbie Breen, Broadway Meiody of 193 S not twice Would ever I care to see As it was not my liking. I may sound very mean, But it wasn’t at all striking. My very, latest evening gown Is a dainty blue satin, That keeps me cool when sitting down, I rather like the pattern. I received my badge and I was very pleased with it. I have joined the Cocoa Cub’s Club and it is good fun, too. There are 73 childdren going to our sehool. I went to the pictures on Thursday, the name of it was “Under Two Flags.” I thought it was good. I will have to say cheerio for now, Hub. Buttercup. I saw “ Under Two Flags,” too, Buttercup. Glen Oroua. Dear Hub,—Here I am writing again. I am sending a piece of poetry called “Two Little Maids.” We went to Oroua Downs yesterday to play basketball and beat them by It—ll. Tho Glen Oroua boys beat Oroua Downs by 26—0. It is a magnificent day here. We travel to Longburn next Friday. We have won five games now. Tho oys have won three games.

Kelvin Grove. Dear Hub,—We have got a pet pup and it chase 3 the fowls nearly every day. He is six months’ old. One day he ran out in the middle of the road and a big lorry ran over his back leg. We have started a football team at the school. Lofty. What a mischievous pup you have, Lofty. You must train him to keep in his own back yard!
