PURCHASE OF ESTATE. LONDON, June 4. The Nuffield Trust for the University of Oxford has purchased The Hoo estate, in what Charles Lamb called “hearty, homely, loving Hertfordshire.” Lord Hampden is tho vendor. Tho purchase includes the Georgian mansion and 4000 acres. There are 255 acres of woodland, 15 large farms, many small holdings and over 70 houses and cottages. Tho rent rool exceeds £6OOO a year, a point of great importance in a purchase for investment, as this is. The river winding through the park affords two miles of trout fishing.
