Ashhurst

From Our Own Corresnonaent National Party. About seventy friends and supporters of the National Party gathered at the residence of Mr G. Wiggins. Hiwinui, on Saturday evening, where they were entertained by Mr and Mrs S. Wiggins. A progressive euchre tournament was won by Mrs 15. Williamson and Mr Amon. Dancing was indulged in by the younger folk, the Monte Carlo being won by Miss I. Woodroofe and Mr Williamson. Competitions were held, the winners being Miss M. Woodroofe, Mr J. Searle and Mr G. Wiggins. Mr D. McFarlane entertained with humorous songs and yodelling, his items being much appreciated. Miss Laureen Fairless’ dancing was also a reature of the evening. Supper was provided, after which Mr W. Romley. on behalf of the combined committees, thanked Mr and Mrs Wiggins for their hospitality. Mr Wiggins briefly responded.
