Twelfth Annual Dance Of Business Girls’ Club

LAST NIGHT’S HAPPY FUNCTION The twelfth annual dance of the Business Girls’ Club, held last evening in the P.D.C. ballroom, provided a delightful social occasion for members and thoir friends. An enthusiastic committee headed by the popular secretary, Miss D. Nevvth, combined admirably to make the evening a memorable one and it was certainly not their fault that a number of counter attractions interfered somewhat with the attendance. Mr. J. Seiwyn was a host in himself as master of ceremonies and under his ge.nial direction inspired by lively music, a programme of old-time and modern dances proceeded happily until 1 a.m., a most enjoyable function terminating in time-honoured fashion.

There were novelty dances to add to tho fun, with snow balls in the club colours (blue and gold), also streamers making contribution to tho gaiety. Winners of the lucky Gay Gordons were Miss Christian and Mr. Hill. Mr. Harry Oram contributed music for oxtra dances. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss Y. Cronin and Mr. P. Milner.

The chaperones were the patroness, Mrs. A. E. Mansford, who wore black cliarmelaine with orchid shoulder spray and white fur evening coat, and Mrs. M. H. Ornm, tho president, wiio was in black tulle over satin, with satin sash and carnation corsage. Also present were Mrs. E. L. Christian, founder of the club, in petunia cloque, with black velvet evening coat; Mrs. W. T. Royal, a vice-president, in a black taf-

feta frock with brocaded satin roses appliqued on the puff sleeves; Mrs. H. Palmer, also a vice-president, iu black and floral embossed chiffon.

Committee members present were Miss D. Newth in wine georgette and lace; Miss G. Bates wearing pink lace with a black velvet sash; Miss J. Ladyman, floral crinkle silk; Miss D. Mitchell, black crepe romaine; Miss M. Cooksley, ivory snail taffeta; Miss V. Royal, lilac chenille embossed satin, and sequin jacket; Miss J. Spilman, wine taffeta; Miss L. Allsop, clover crinkled cloque with midnight blue velvet strapping; Miss V. Cronin, white net appliqued with green and mauve flowers; Miss H. Tnrr, black velvet and silver lame; Miss L. Bennett, black cloque with floral top, pink velvet evening coat; and Miss T. P. Holmes, black satin beaute, cherry and black coat.

There were apologies from Mesdamos P. J. Nathan, A. Cooksley, D. Evans, W. J. Day, J. A. Nash, W. Riddet. ana M. Aitchison (vice-presidents).
