Warning to Japan

Tho Anglo-French warning to Japan not only concerns Hainan, but other Chinese islands in tho vicinity of Hong Kong and Indo-China. Britain has already either singlo handed or with the French lodged five protests to which the Japanese replied that they had no territorial ambitions. The Daily Herald’s Singapore correspondent says that us the Japanese advance through South China towards French Indo-China, the latter’s defences are being rapidly strengthened, 20,000 recruits augweting the existing garrison of 30,000, including a battalion of Foreign Legion. Emplacements for 15-inch guns are being constructed at Cape St. James and a submarine refuelling station established at Oamrans
