Charming Wedding at St. Patrick’s Church

SWINDELL—RICHARDS A wedding of considerable interest in amatuer dramatic circles was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church on the morning of Monday, June 27, when Aluriel, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs A. G. Richards, of Palmerston North was quietly married to Frederick Thomas Swindell, younger son of Mr and Airs F. J. Swindell, of Napier, and formerly of Palmerston North. Tho ceremony was performed by Rev. Father P. J. Herlihy and during the service “Ave Maria” sung by Aliss Freda Doherty fell like a benison upon the gathering. Aliss M. Spelman was tho organist and Air Richards gave his daughter away. A lovely gown of white satin was chosen by the bride, fashioned with a high neckline which was opened and buttoned to an empire waistline. The sleeves wero full and tapered to tho elbows and wrists, and the slim-fitting skirt fell away to form a long train. Her misty tulle veil was caught to her head by a topknot of white velvet flowers. White slippers and a dainty arm-shea E of paper white narcissi, white double azaleas, and camellias maidenhair fern tied with silver ribbon, completed a particularly picturesque ensemble.

Tho bride was attended by two maids, Aliss Kathleen Richards (chief;, her sister, and Aliss Nancy Moore, who were frocked alike in burgundy chiffon velvet fashioned with novel square yokes which formed short, full picotedged sleeves. The bodies ■were slightly full, and were encircled at the waist with burgundy sashes tying in flat bows at the back, and the full skirts were slightly trained. They W'oro dainty Juliet caps of silver, also silver shoos and carried arm sheaves of rod chrysanthemums, cyclamen and maidenhair fern tied with silver streamers.

Mr Harry Palmer of Palmerston North was best man and Mr. Pat O’Shea groomsman. After tho ceremony intimate friends of tho young couple were entertained at a reception in the Rosco tearooms which were bright with flowers carry ing out tho bridal colour scheme. Tho bride’s mother was wearing n nut brown flecked ensemble trimmed with oriental buttons, with matching hat and coat, and her posy was of pink cyclamen and roses. Tho groom’s mother wore a model frock of moss green silk lace with which she wore a brown fur coat and a model hat of beige felt trimmed with moss green. Her posy was of abutelons and lachenalias in autumn shades.

"When the bride and groom left later on their honeymoon tour of the North, the former was wearing an earth red silk gabardice tunic suit with a toning hat, nigger brown fur coat and accessories to match.
