Before them the Indians melt away as grass before the scythe. They .-hoot them down on the slightest provocation, and speak of ‘head of Indian/ as wo do in England of head of game. Their bearing is bold, reckless and independent in the extreme . . . ‘Stranger, 1 belong to tho greatest, most «*ulighteucd, and most progressive nation on earth; 1 may bo of & millionaire next year; 1 don’t car u straw for you or anybody else . . .” Actually, though, Producer Darryl t\ Zanuck and Director Henry King who were seeking lo recapture the mood of old Chicago, were pleased rather than otherwise to.find that it bad bceu such a tough town. It gavu them a chance for lots or light scenes between brawny extras with Tyrone Power, Alice Faye and Don Amcche iu tho loading roles.
