Mrs. Hector Jones and her daughter Nola, of Hastings, aro visitors to Paljmerston North, where tho latter will spend a holiday of some duration. Sister Enid Aitkeu, child welfare ofiicer of tho Manawatu and Wanganui districts, was a week-end visitor to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Mcßae, who visited Palmerston North for the conference of the Legion of Frontiersmen, have returned to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Hughes, of Russell street, Palmerston North, were visitors to Wellington for tho golden wedding celebrations of Mrs. Hughes’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Bull. Mr. and Mrs. W. Dorizzi, Western Australia, who have been the guests of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Cope, Albert street, left for Australia by the Aorangi last Miss Helen Simpson, tho Australian novelist, has been endorsed as prospective Liberal candidate for the Isle of Wight. Speaking at Shanklin, she said: “I am shocked to see the way the Government’s policy is alienating the British colonies. Canada and Australia arc now looking to the United States for defence and leadership, and South Africa fools that she must hoe her own row.” Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hare, Feilding, their daughters, Mrs. Trevor Morris, North Auckland, and Miss Christian Hare, Wellington, aro visiting Nelson for the wedding on Wednesday of Mr. Humphrey Jlare (Feilding) and Miss Kathleen Wallace, of Nelson. Among other visitors from tho North Island to Nelson for the occasion will be Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Drew, Sanson, and Mr. Lawrence Dransfield, of Makuri.
