Air. A. Russel], at present first assistant dental surgeon at the Wellington Hospital, has been appointed senior dental surgeon of the Christchurch Hospital. Mr. J. Wood, eugiueer-in-ehief and Undcr-Secretary of the Public Works Department, who is at present in Australia, is expected to return to New Zealand early in July. Mr. Harold Gatty, representative of Pan-American Airways in New Zealand and Australia, left by the Wangauella last night for {Sydney to pay a brief visit to his relatives in Australia. Visitors at the Palmerston North Citizens’ Lunch Club yesterday were Messrs C. Errington, from Newcastle-on-Tyue, and U. .Jones, Wellington. Mr 0. W. Mills took the chair and Mr «j. Rainforth was appointed a member of tho club. Mr. Graham Roberts, London manager for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, who is on a visit to New Zealand, arrived in Auckland from the south on Thursday. He is accompanied by Mrs. Roberts. Miss Joyce Bonnett, of Milverton avenue, left Palmerston North recently having accepted a responsible position on the clerical staff of Messrs. C. and A. Odliu, Ltd., Wellington. Sho takes with her tho very best wishes of her many friends in this city. Mr. A. O. Osborne, genoral manager of tho New Zealand Fruit Growers’ Federation, Limited, Wellington, will leave to-day on a visit to England. He will be absent for about six months, and will investigate a number of matters concerning the New Zealand fruit growing industry. Mr. J. 11. Parker u ill act as general manager during his absence. The Titnuru, Presbytery, at a special meeting yesterday, sustained a call by Chalmers Church to Rev. Malcolm W. Wilson, of York, England. It was announced that Air. Wilson was prepared to accept the call and would leave England on September 10. In the meantime Rev. Dr. Thomas, of Chicago, who is travelling abroad on vacation, will supply the charge. Mr. James Mucky Wright, of Shamrock street, Palmerstoi. North died rocently at the Wellington hospital ufter a severe illness which had developed very rapidly during the last six mouths. The deceased gentleman had been for many years a member of the Church of Christ in New Zealand, being formerly

connected with the Church of Christ, Kirkcaldy, Scotland. Air. Grinstead, as a very old friend and a minister of the Church in Scotland in former days, spoke at the service in the Church of Air. Wright’s unassuming manner and his loyalty to his Lord and to his Church. Air. J. Tyrell-B’axter oflidated at tho interment and tho memoral service. Air. Wright leaves behind him to mourn his loss a widow, two daughters (Mrs. Grant, of Y/anganui, and Airs. Cridgc, of Palmerston North) and one son, Mr. Ron. Wright.
