Shannon Gill Guides had a very wet, cold night last Wednesday for their effort to provide a contribution to the Truby King Memorial Fund. Nevertheless tlieir captain, Miss C. Picard, reports that after paying expenses there will be 30s to hand over. Tho Guides worked up this effort entirely by themselves for which they deserve great credit. They called it a “Aledley Evening.’* A bring and buy stall added a little to the funds. The four patrols each arranged their contribution to tho entertainment und each item was warm ly applauded. The following was the programme presented: Poppy patrol, an j original playetto by members; recitations, Jean Grant; pianoforte solo, Doris llayncs; dialogue, “Jemima,” Denzil Carter and Aladgo Coley; military dance, Pat Caldwell; Acorn patrol, dialogue, “Three Cats,” Rita Robinson, Coral Andrews and Ngungu Hikamatu, folk dance, six members of the patrol; poi dance, Ngungu Hikamatu; song, Rita Robinson; soug, Coral Andrews; musical monologue, May Gbodwillie; Kowhai patrol, demonstration of gadget making; song, Doreen AlcAlceking; t,a f duo, May Goodwillie and Bhirley Gunning; song, Martha Jamieson; tap dance, Joan Coutts; Kiwi patrol, originnl playcttes, “At the Beach” and Gipsies,” Marian Campbell, Betty McMeeking, Pamela Gunning, Mavis Lepper, Greta Jamieson and Beti.» Coley; recitation, Betty McAlecliing; song, Greta Jamieson.
