PROTECTION OF GIRLS Per l’rcss Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Tho unusual cliargo of unlawfully holding communication with a seven-tecn-year-old girl, tho iumato of a receiving home under tho Child Welfare Department, was brought against Stanley Campbell Sycamore, married, of Waiuku, in tho Police Court yesterday. Tho defendant denied tho charge, und his counsel submitted that thero was x'.othing in the law preventing Sycamore communicating with her, and that what he did was not unlawful. Fining Sycamore £2O, the Magistrate, Mr. C. R. Orr-Walker, said that Sycamore Jiad no right to communicate with the girl. "Any man of the world can only come to one conclusion, that this man had ulterior motives. A married mail of his ago had only one thing in view. These girls had got to be watched and cared for.” Counsel moved for leave to appeal, and the Magistrate said he would consider the matter in Chambers.
