Body in a Bucket
Month-old Maori Child FISHERMAN'S GRUESOME DISCOVERY Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Niglit. Wien Mr. D. W. T. Evans, a fisher mail, of Graham’s Beach, was fishing in Manukau Harbour this morning he saw an object floating in the water and When he had retrieved it he found it was a sack containing a bucket into which the body of a mouth-old Madfi boy child had been jammed. It is understood that accompanying the body was a piece of paper with the date written on it, a circumstance which may help tho police in their in* Mr. Evans saw something floating over a sandbank where the water is about four feet deep. He started tho engine of his launch and drew alongside the sack, thinking it was empty, but when he hauled it on board he was astonished to find the body of a dead child which apparently had been in the water for some time. The spot where he made his discovery is about five or six miles from the Onehunga wharf. The distance was covered in as short a time as possible and as soon as he arrived Mr. Evans informed the police.
