Mainly Fair to Fine Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. An anti-cyclone still covers southeastern Australia and extends towards the South Island. A rather shallow depression is centred northeast of Cape Maria van Diemen, while another slight secondary is passing in the south. Winds: Moderate to strong southeasterlies about and north of Cook Strait and elsewhere west to southwest; gale force probable in some exposed positions in the far north and northeast. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rough north of Kaikoura and in the Cook and Foveaux Strait areas; elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to fresh south-easterly winds in tno northern portion and south-west to west in the southern, with moderate to rather rough Weather: Cloudy to overcast between Cook Strait and East Cape and in most of the Auckland province, with scattered rains and some heavy falls between Wairoa and East Cape; elsewhere mainly lair to fine, but with occasional showers in the far south-west and south. Temperatures cool.
