MARRIED MAN ACCIDENTALLY

INJURED

MASTERTON, April 26.

A shooting accident occurred at Wangaehu, near Masterton, on Sunday afternoon, Cyril Beard, middle-aged, employed in the wool store of Dalgety and Co., Wellington, being accidentally shot in the back.

Mr Beard, in company with several companions, was out shooting rabbits and when a lad, M. N. Clark, of Masterton, was loading one of the rifles it accidentally discharged, the bullet entering Mr Beard’s back. The victim was standing only a few yards away. Several hours later after strenuous journey through broken country and in heavy rain the injured man was admitted to a private hospital in Masterton.

His condition this morning was reported as satisfactory.
