Car Strikes Pole Near Longburn

RT. REV. H. St. B. HOLLAND THROWN OUT The Bishop of Wellington, Rt. Rev. H. St. B. Holland, was catapaulted from tho seat of the car he was driving at 10 a.m. on Anzao Day, when the car struck a pole near Longburn railway crossing. The bishop, who was on his way from "Wellington to Feilding to conduct an Anzac service, had a fortunate escape from serious injury. The road was very slippery and the high-powered car in which his Lordship was travelling skidded several times before striking the pole.

Although the car was extensively damaged, Bishop Holland, apart from a severe shaking, escaped with bruises and was ablo to proceed to Feilding and conduct the service there. He stayed the night with Archdeacon F. H. Petrie and proceeded to Ohakune yesterday.
