Air W. S. The position is vqry satisfactory. New buildings have been inspected during the coubse of construction, and the standard was found to be satisfactory. Alterations and plumbing and drainage work has been inspected and materials and workmansrip ft ere considered to be of a high standard. Food premises have been subject to regular inspection, and conditions were found to be satisfactory. Structural alterations were carried out in some instances to comply with the standard prescribed by the Regulations. It is gratifying to note that the owners of premises concerned gave their willing co-operation, thus rendering the service of notices unnecessary. Nuisances: These have been dealt with as occasion has arisen, and their abatement secured. Hotels have been inspected and conditions found to be satisfactory. Notices were served where necessary, and a report was forwarded to the Licensing Committee. Eating houses were inspected and found to be satisfactory, as also were barbers’ shops. It is suggested that a greater measure of control of the latter premises would be afforded by the adoption of the Hairdressers' (Health) Regulations, 1931. This may be accomplished at no post by an application to the Minister of Health to have this regulation applied to the area.” Cycling on footpatns: Further complaints having been received of this dangerous practice, the Clerk v/rs instructed to write to the police, asking that offenders be prosecuted. Rest Room: It was resolved to make a recommendation to the new Board to raise a loan to complete the rest room building, as it was felt that the whole of the c*6st should not be placed on tne shoulders of the present generation. Tlie chairman said thijt as this was the last meeting of (he Board's three-year term, he wished to thank members lor their hearty co-operation, which had meant a pleasant time for all. The work accomplished reflected credit upon the Board, and new work and repair work had been done without calling further on the ratepayers. During their term there had been a good number of differences oi opinion, but spirited discussion often did good However,, their differences had been’ left behind m the board-room. The chairman added that he had had 36 years of experience on the Board, a good part as chairman, and he always considered that where a man made his living in a community it was his duty to give some service to that, community. One thing which he felt proud of was the fact that practically every ratepayer nau a concrete footpath to his or her residence, in conclusion, the chairman expressed regret that Mr Edwards would not again be offering his services as a commissioner of the Board, having ceased to be a ratepayer. He thanked Ml' EdWards for liis valuable services. Mr Walker also took the opportunity of wishing Air Holland a pleasant Lime on his projected trip. He paid tribute to the Board's staff, Air F.
