Scottish Society

ACTIVITIES COMMENCE The Manawatu Scottish Society commenced its series of fortnightly inglesides in the Cosmopolitan Hall on Saturday evening. If the attendance was any guide, the society can look forward to a very successful year, as the hall was well filled. A piano-accordeon band supplied music for old-time dancing and proved very popular. Mr. F. J. Duckworth was the floor steward and submitted a good selection of numbers, and had the flood in excellent order. Supper was served by a ladies' committee and helpors. Miss D. McLean, who was a successful competitor at the Caledonian sports circuit during Easter, danced the seautriubhas and Highland fling, Piper Cooper playing the accompaniment; and Miss C. Barrowman was well applauded when she exhibited a waltz clog (Miss June Scott was at the piano). Monte Carlo waltz winners were Miss Ward and Mr. Stubbs.
