Sheep Dog Trials

PAHIATUA-MAKURI CLUB’S FIXTURE The annual trials of the PahiatuaMakuri Sheep Dog Trial Club finalised late on Saturday afternoon. There was a record entry, and the club was compelled to continue the fixture an extra day. Saturday was very wet underfoot, but the events were carried through. The new tea shelter and secretary’s office was a boon to all, and it gave the new secretary, Mr. William Bain, scope to keep records up to date. The following are the results:— SHORT HEAD, Cass 11. C. J. Macdonald’s Fay (Masterton), 56 points 1 A. Cleghorn’s Sweep (Kimbolton), 55 points 2 Mr. Wilton’s Chiel (Masterton), 541 points 3 P. Hudson’s Lass (Dannevirke), 54 points (equal) 4 R. Wiffin’s Best (Dannevirke), 51 points (Dannevirke) .. points (equal) 4 G. Thompson’s Sweep (Masterton), 54 points (equal) 4 MAIDEN. E. Eddie’s Nell (Pahiatua), 53 i .. 1 W. Thom’s Hemp (Hastings), 53 .. 2 A. Bisset’s Toss (Pahiatua) 521 .. 3 The Merrett Brechin Rose-bowl was won by W. Thoms with his dog Hemp with 99 points, also the Frank Horne Cup for the Maiden events. The F. F. Barraclough Special Cup was won by C. Wiffin’s Star with 46£ points. The local event, the - Madson Trophy, class 18, was won by T. Burgess with Tip, 38 points. The Smyth Cup, class 11, was won by C. Macdonald’s Fay, 56 points. In the L. T. Herbert Trophy, class 118, E. Eddie won with Nell, with 53J points. The Oxley Cup, class lA, and class lIA, was won by E. Eddie outright with, Nell, with 91 points. HUNTAWAY, Class 3, Open. T.
