British Workers Demand Support for Spain
THREAT OF STRIKE IN AIRCRAFT FACTORIES LONDON, April 24. Received Monday, 7.30 p.m. The National Emergncy Labour Conference regarding Spain, which is being attended by delegates from 1203 organisations, voted unanimously to support the Republican Government, and with this end in view will make an appeal to the British and French Governments and the Trades Union Conference. It was decided to request the Trades Union Conference to convene a meeting to decide on coercion upon the British Government to save Spain. Mr. Schofield, of the Aircraft Shop Stewards’ Council, said the union was not prepared to co-opefate with the Government in re-armament on the basis of tho present policy. They were prepared to agitate for a factory strike to compel Britain to send arms to Spain.
