Another social afternoon was held at the home of Mrs Evans last week in aid of circuit funds. Competition winners were Mrs Laurie Rose, Airs Len Rose, and Airs Carr. A stall did good business and the circuit funds will benefit to the extent of £2 10s. During the afternoon opportunity was taken by Airs Evans to make a presentation of a Bible to Ruth Coombridge, and a book to Donald, as farewell gifts, wishing them every success in their new circuit. Mr Coombridge returned thanks. A heavy thunderstorm caused everyone to go inside, where afternoon tea was served. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Airs Evans for the use of her home.

Rev. Coombridge, who departs for Halcombe this week, preached his farewell services throughout the district on Sunday. Opportunity was taken at the conclusion of the service, by Mr R. D. Rose, to present Rev,, and Airs Coombridge with a cheque in recognition of the valuable work they have done in the distinct during their stay here. Rev. Coombridge returned thanks. Wairakei Defence Rifle Club. Alembers of the Rifle Club held a shoot on Saturday for a trophy donated by Mr S. AI. Aleads. Shooting conditions were only fair, and the scores were registered, seven shots being fired over the 200, 300 and 600 yards ranges: S. A. Meads, 99; A. R. Kirton, 97; K. Carey, 94; S. AI. Meads, 92; J. Thompson 92. General and Personal.

A dance was held on Saturday evening in aid of funds for the W.D.F.U. Music was supplied by Alessrs J. Carr and Sliioess, and an enjoyable time was spent by the large gathering present. Air N. Saywell was M.C. . t 3 The Public Library committee intends holding a dance on Eoster Monday night, when a good attendance is hoped for. Air D. T. Couper and his brother, Mr A. Couper, Te Kawhata, returned from* Timaru on Thursday, Air A. Couper and his son, Air T. Couper, returning home on Saturday. Dr. AlcMeakin, of Otaki, is staying with Mr D. Couper. Airs G. W. Sherson and Aliss D. Slier - son, who have been staying with Mrs J. Boshier,'returned to Taumarunui on Saturday. ,

Airs* A. Pettigrew is holidaying in Christchurch.
