Mrs C . Coldicutt, of Palmerston North, has as her guest Mrs W. Pascoe, of Auckland.

Dr. Merton Hodge, famous New Zealand author of “The Wind and the Rain” and “The Island” is now at work in. London on another play.

After an extended motor tour of the Soujffi Island, Mr and Mrs J. A. Wilkinson, of Elmira Avenue, have returned to Palmerston North.

Miss L. Crump, of Wellington, who has been on an extended visit overseas, is at present the guest of her sister, Mrs. T. R. Hodder, Alan street.

Mr and Mrs R. J. Mclver, Palmerston North, aro flying to Blenheim to-morrow to spend the Easter holidays with Mr and Mrs M. Mclver.

Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Sandford will be Hamilton visitors to Feilding for the Easter race meeting, and will be the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Bailey, “Awanui, ” Kiwitea.

Miss D. B. Speedy, Ward street, returned to Palmerston North on Monday after a visit to Akitio to say farewell* to her sister, Mrs. P. V. Smith, who, with members of her family, leaves on a holiday visit overseas this week.

Mr. and Mrs. P. V. Smith, Akitio, and their two daughters, Misses Joan and Phillipa Smith, leave to-morrow by the Wanganella for Sydney, where they will join the Mooltan on an extended visit overseas. They expect to return to the Dominion via America.

Mr. and Mrs. Basil Porter, Makino road, Feilding, will have staying with them for the Easter holidays the latter’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrie Smith, Bank of New Zealand, Stratford, and their son and daughter, Mr. Charles and Miss Pamela Smith.

Miss K. Birnie presided over a meeting of the Palmerston North High School Old Girls’ Association this week. Also present were the joint secretaries (Misses N. Oakley and R. Lees) and Misses J. Edwards, T. Burgess, M. Thompson, C. McNeil, M. Puklowski, J. Rountree, N. Niccol and D. Hughes. The secretaries reported that a wreath had been sent to the funeral of Miss Z. M. Sollitt, who was fatally injured in the recent railway accident at Ratana. The question of holding an informal dance on the same lines as last year was discussed, it being decided that May 21 was a suitable date. A committee was set up to make the necessary arrangements. It was also decided to hold the first reading of the drama branch in May, a play to be chosen later.
