Pipe Band Contest
A meeting of reception officers and the ladies committee was held to finalise arrangements for the entertainment of visiting bandsmen and their friends during the forthcoming Pipe Band Contest. Mr J. S. Jenkinson, president of the executive committee was iu the chair. Supper arrangements for the visitors at the conclusion ofthe test selections on Easter Saturday and Monday nights were discussed, and the organisation was left in the hands of the ladies’ committee. A motor drive has been organised for Easter Sunday afternoon, the route lying through the Manawatu Gorge to Ballance, where a stop will be made for afternoon tea. The return trip will be made through Aokautere, Massey College and Fitzherbert Bridge. A member of the committee has generously donated five gallons of milk, and hot water wil be provided free at Ballance. Already 15 cars with picnic baskets have been arranged and it is hoped to double this number and thus accommodate all the bandsmen numbering approximately 200. Would anyone desiring to assist the committee in this effort, please communicate with Mr C. F. Cronin, 'phone 73G0.
