Repertory Season Opens To-night
QUEEN’S HUSBAND” AT OPERA HOUSE Weeks of strenuous endeavour under the untiring direction of Mr. Fred Cousins, culminated last evening in an excellent dress rehearsal of “The Queen's Husband," the modern threeact thriller, which opens a three-night season at the Opera House to-night. No detail has been spared to ensure the highest standard that is synonymous with Repertory Society productions, and splendid teams, both on and off stage, have combined admirably to achieve this result. The setting, the King's office in the Palace, in which are enacted tense, dramatic and paradoxical scenes, is rich but dignified, with elegant furniture and hangings of the period while the costuming of both male and female characters is appropriately colourful, striking and at times most picturesque. The general excellence of the presentation ia ter enhanced by the lighting and fealistir. stage effects aud the public should find it first-class entertainment.
