Two matters of great importance which have recently occupied the atten-

tiou of the executive were the liberation of parasites to combat the rapid spread of the white butterfly and the question of the shortage of railway wagons holding up fertiliser supplies. In regard to the first, application was made to the Cawthron Institute and two containers of parasites were received as a result for liberation in the district. The wagon shortage was also pressed home fii'mly to the Railway Department, the efforts of Hon. J. G. Cobbe, M.P., assisting very inaterial.y in this respect.
