From Our Own Correspondent. The annual meeting of the Papatawa Girls’ Basketball Club was held at the residence of Mrs C. W. Cunningham on Monday night. There was.a good attendance of members. The election of officers resulted as follows: President. Mrs C. W. Cunningham; vice-president. Mrs .T. Goldsworthy; captain, Mrs R. Morgan; vicecaptain, Miss M. Golder; secretary, Miss Goldsworthy. The retiring captain and secretary, Misses Rivers and D. O'Hagan, respectively, did not seek re-election. It was decided to modify the club colours. There is a possibility of forming two teams this year. A friendly game will be played with xi Woodville team on Saturday Mrs D. Pinfold, of Hamilton, is the guest of Mrs J. S. Nelson. Miss Leggott, Christchurch, who has been renewing acquaintances in Hawke’s Bay, returns South this week. Another Hamilton visitor to the district is Miss Dempster. Mrs S. Gleadow and Miss Bradley left for Otane on Wednesday as delegates to the annual meeting of the Southern Hawke's Bay Federation of Women’s Institutes. A successful euchre party in aid of school funds was held in the Maharahara school-room on Saturday night, there being a large number of players present. The winners were as follow: Ladies, Mrs S. Sandbrook 1, Mrs Gleadow and Mrs Wardie (equal) 2; men, Mr Gleadow 1. Mr Pirio 2. The next euchre party will be held on April 23.
