From Our Own Correspondent. Young Farmers' Club. At (he annual meeting of the Young Farmers’ Club Mr L. D. Beard presided over it good attendance. A comprehensive report of the year’s activities was presented bv the secretary. Mr Hopo Lucas. A satisfactory financial statement was also lead. The chairman gave a resume of a meeting of the representative committee held at Palmerston North. lie also outlined tne proposed educational tour to be held in May. Quite a number of members announced their intention of making the trip. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr W. A. Gimblelt; advisory members, Messrs It. M. White, L. D. Beard and Iv. Wilton; chairman, Mr lan Bond; secretary, Mr Hope Lucas; committee, Messrs Ryan, Caske. R. Bond and F. Legge; delegates to annual meeting of Manawatu executive, Messrs L. U. Beard, f. Bond and A. Lucas. ?t was decided that the club meet on Wednesday nights in future. Basketball Dance. The Ladies’ Basketball Club held a bright little dance on a recent evening, when there was a large attendance. A professional orchestra provided the music, and extras were played by Miss Joan Legge. Novelty dances were won as follows: Monte Carlo, Miss Kona Russell and Mr L. Beard; lucky spot. Miss P. Gimbiett and Mr Pat. Sargisson; Monte Carlo, Miss R. Grammer and Mr K. Cotton (Oroua Downs). Mr Jack \va.s M.C.. Mrs H. Pearce, an erstwhile resident of the district, and now residing at Whakarongo. is visiting Mr and Mrs Stan Pearce, at Buinesse, and is receiving a warm welcome from her many old friends. Mr and Mrs Hedley Wilton are expected home shortly from an extended motor tour of the South Island. Mrs Mcstyn Toogood was a week-end X'isitor to Hawke’s Bay. Mr Hope Lucas, who received serious Injuries to his leg in a motor accident some months ago, has made a good recovery and has resumed his ordinary duties.
