Labour’s Euchre and Dance
Notwithstanding a counter-attraction the Parish Hall was again filled with happy merrymakers for Labour's euchre and dance. Mr. C. L. Hunter, M. and Mrs. Hunter were in attendance and joined with all in their attempt to develop the social side of our communal life. Patrons expressed great satisfaction at the untiring efforts of the social committee under the organising generalship of Mr. P. G. Guy. The innovation of an ice cream and soft drink stall was a success owing to the able administrative ability of Mr. Ernest Petty. The card tables were again filled, the prize winners being: Ladies, Miss Newell 1, Mrs. Cleland 2; gentlemen, Mr. Corbin and Mr. O 'Reilly tied for first place. Air. N. Huddleston and Miss Wheeler won the lucky Gay Gordons, whilst the Monte Carlo waltz went to Mr. Fry and Mrs. Withers. Miss E. True won the special competition. The ever-popular aceordeon band of Palmerston North supplied the music while extras were played by Miss Gilbert, Mrs. H. Fraser and Air. Ray Legge. The next dance is on Thursday 14 owing to Easter. The branch thanks all who so willingly contributed to the campaign fund.
