Lithuania Expects Impossible Demands
APPEAL TO LEAGUE LIKELY United Press Association—By Klee trio Telegraph.—Copjrrlaht. Received Thursday, 7.5 p.m. LONDON, March 17. Two Polish divisions are concentrated at Vilna, says the Riga correspondent of the Daily Mail. Lithuania expects an early Polish Note containing demands that the Government will be unable to fulfil. A Kaunas message says it is officially declared that the Polish sentry over whom the dispute has arisen was killed in Lithuanian territory. He w’as the first to open fire.
Lithuania has informed the Secre-tary-General of the League of Nations, M. Avenol, that it intends to appeal to the League if Poland does not agree to the proposal that both countries appoint representatives to discuss the crisis.
Tension Slightly Relieved LITHUANIA MUST CHOOSE BETWEEN PEACE AND WAJ Received Friday, 2 a.in. WARSAW, March 17. A big demonstration is planned to-day under the slogan, “Lithuania must say whether she wants peace or war.” The tension was slightly relieved by the issue of a statement that the Polish Government has taken appropriate steps.
