Hon. J. G. Cobbe at Mangaweka

ELECTORS MAKE PRESENTATION During his visit to Mangaweka on Wednesday afternoon for the purpose of officially opening the new district Post Office on behalf of the PostmasterGeneral, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, M.P. (Oroua) was afterwards met by his supporters and presented with a silver tea service. The presentation was made by Mr. W. P. Shaw in recognition of Mi*. Cobbe’s services to the electors at the northern end of his electorate. Mr. Shaw warmly eulogised Mr. Cobbe’s services to the district as its Parlia? mentary representative, stating that at all times he had always been ready and willing to attend to any request made of him. The settlers were losing him with regret under the alteration of the electorate boundaries, but all joined in wishing him the success in the coming contests that was undoubtedly due to him. Taken completely by surprise by the unexpected presentation, Mr. Cobbe voiced his thanks to the settlers for their kindly thought. He had, he said, only done what he had considered his duty as their representative in Parliament and that such recognition should be given it had never entered his head. The presentation concluded with musical honours for Mr. Cobbe followed by enthusiastic cheers for him.
