Tangimoana
From Our Own Correspondent. The annual meeting of the Tangimoana branch of the Labour Party was held during the week-end. Among those present were Mr C. L. Hunter, M.P., and Mrs Hunter, Mr W. H. Olliver. district area officer, Mr E. Bowater, secretary of the Manawatu L.R.C., and Messrs G. bhapleski and F. Edwards, members of the Feilding branch. Mr Bowater, who occupied the chair during the election of officers, congratulated the local branch on their year's work, mentioning particularly their sound financial position. The following officers were elected: President: Mr A. S. Carkeek; vice-president, Mr R. K. Ayres; secretary, Mrs A. S. Carkeek; auditor, the secretary of the Manawatu L.R.L.; delegate to the L.R.C. to be held at Halcombe, Messrs G. Alsop, A. Carkeek, R. Wibly, R. K. Ayres and the secretary. Regarding.the election of the district area officer, it was decided unanimously to ,give first preference to Mr W. H. Olliver.. At the conclusion of the election of officers, Mr Olliver gave an address on the aims of the present Government, enlisting the support of all members to co-operate whole-heartedly in assisting a Government whose policy and enactments meant prosperity for both young and old. A rnOiet term ot Labour Government, he stated, meant a continuation of progress and a practical guarantee against a return ot economic depression and unnecessary sorial misery At the conclusion or the address.
