SOME WELL-BRED SORTS From Our Own CorresDondent. WATPUKURAU, Last Night. The yarding cf 800 head include some well-bred cattle, and for the bes lines some good sales were made A particularly fine offering of ver}. forward 30-months steers realised £IC Well-bred and well-grown bullocks, ii very forward condition, brought £1( 19/-. Similar aged bullocks in medium condition only made £9 15/-. The easier selling was mor- noticeable for breeding cows in calf. A line from Pahiatua of empty cows with calves at foot made £8 7/6. Empty young cows and heifers met with goad selling tc £6 15/-. Useful 18-months steer, brought £7 12/6, and small-grown entries in backward order sold well at £6 12/6. Values were well maintained as the selling progressed and on the basis of quality very satisfactory prices were made. The fat pens were very mixed in quality, there being few lots suitable for butchers, and the market was a little easier than last week. STORE CATTLE. Two well-framed A.A. cross bullocks, unfinished and very plain in quality, were passed at £l2. A medium-grown dehorned Hereford heifer, empty after a few days on the road, but in good order, made £8 10/-. Three mixed-bred dairy cows, plain in quality, brought £4 10/-. Two small young Jersey heifers, well finished, brought £5 2/6. Eight medium-framed A.A. cross bullocks, showing a medium finish only, hardly killable, were passed at £ll. An offering of horned Hereford cows, medium-framed and well finished, sold at £lB 18/-. These were the best finished cattle in the sale. On account of the Native Trust and off Motuweha Station, an offering of 39 well-grown A.A. bullocks, some showing a Hereford cross, in a very forward condition and readily finished, being a particularly fine entry of quality cattle, met the market at £lO 19/-. An offering of 34 A.A. cross bullocks, not so well bred as the previous line and smaller grown, in useful store order, were passed at £lO 15/-. An offering of 24 well-bred 30-months A.A. steers, in very forward order, a first-class quality line, were passed at £lO. These steers were the most attractive seen in the yards for some time, and should be an early chilling proposition. On account Oruawhara Station, medium-grown 18-months A.A. steers, showing good coats and in hardy order, sold at £7 6/-. On account Mr J. Carlson, Wakarara, 14 medium-framed A.A.-Hereford cross cows (i.c. A.A.) were passed at £5 10/-, being well below recent rates. On account Oruawhara Station, 22 clean-bred A.A. steers, fairly grown and in medium store condition but should be a useful chilling line, brought £8 13/6. An offering of 24 well-bred A.A. heifers, i.c. Mangamaire, a good breeding line, were passed at £6 7/6. In from Wallingford, a line of smallgrown, clean-bred 18-months A.A. steers, in useful store condition, realised £Y. An offering of 22 empty A.A. cross heifers and young cows in forward condition and should be quick finishing for the winter trade, brought £6 15/-. In from Wakarara, a line of smallgrown, 18-months A.A. steers, rather backward and light, sold well at £6 12/6. An offering of 31 empty young A.A. cows, with 30 calves at foot, were passed at £8 7/6. The cows were light in condition, and the calves were mixed in size. STORE SHEEP fjf* On account Mr J. M. Douglas, 140 medium-grown woolly white faced wether lambs, in medium order, brought 15/10. On account Tamumu Station, a line of small to medium grown 2-ths, fine woolled ewes in good condition and healthy, were passed at 29/6. On account Fleming Bros. Tamumu, a line of well-framed, late shown 5-yr ewes, quite well mouthed, but very mixed in the wool, were passed at 19/0. In from Bullock Hill, Te Uri, 260 guaranteed 5-yr ewes, early shorn, well framed and well mouthed, thoroughly sound, sold to 26/-. On account of Mr R. Mathews, Wakarara, and bred by the vendor, 285 me-dium-framed early shorn, 2-th ewes, in good condition and fine woolled, realised 31/2. On account of the same vendor tho stronger woolled ewes in similar order brought 30/-. An offering of 195 6-year ewes, very poorly mouthed, a good fattening line, brought 13/-. These ewes were a very mixed lot.
On account Whakamutu, a line cf late shorn, medium-grown 2-th ewes, useful young sheep, were passed at 28/3.
In from Whetakura, 20 5-year ewes, well framed but very poorly mouthed and mixed in the wool, being a poor class of ewe were passed at 17/9. A line of six-year ewes, fair mouths and light in condition and mixed (r.w. Southdown) were passed at 17/9. In from Mangaorapa medium-grown, woolly, white faced wether lambs, in forward order, brought 17/3.
