Woman Shop-lifter Caught

MAGISTRATE ADMITS TO PROBATION “I will give her a chance but we don’t suppress tho names of shoplifters,” declared Mr. J. L. Stout in the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court yesterday when admitting Mrs. Mavis Annie Morgan, of Pahiatua, aged 27 years, to 12 months probation on a charge of stealing a frock valued at 7s lid from a departmental store. Detective-Sergeant Meiklejokn said accused hid tho frock under her coat but an attendant, becoming suspicious, followed her down the street for some distance until Mrs. Morgan pulled the frock out. She was then stopped, taken back to the store and a detective was sent for. Accused had money in the bank and really had no necessity to steal.
