Mrs. J. R. Campbell, of Mangaha l drew attention to the bad state of th road from the Shannon Borough bourn ary to Mangaore, and asked if som improvement could be effected. Work of the Past Month A review of the work carried out i the Horowhenua County during tl. month of February was given by t! engineer (Mr. J. T. M. Five corners on Kaihina Road have been cut back and one fil ing widened. The recent wet weathc softened the fill and traffic was bloc! ed for a day and a night. A contrac has been let to cut back the firj corner on Victoria Road and this wi be proceeded with as soon as weathe conditions are satisfactory. The approach I the railway crossing at Te Horo froi No. 373 Highway has been scarified an shaped up with the grader in view c sealing later. The contractor liz placed the evener course of No. 51 Highway in readiness for sealing. Tb metal truck stationed at Tokomaru ht been engaged carting metal from pi: on to No. 552 Highway. No. 1 bridg cn No. 552 Highway has had long ti dinal decking placed on it for its fu v, idth. Nos. 1,2 and 3 bridges on N 374 Highway have received simik treatment. A water main on No. 31 Highway has been lowered so that would not be in the way of constru tion works.
