The question of the Pahiatua A. and P. Association retaining the various cups and rose bowls offered for competition until they are won outright, or allowing an exhibitor who has secured a win to hold the trophy for a year, will be subject to a big discussion tomorrow, when the matter will be introduced by the president (Mr. H. Cotter), following the presentation of the financial report in connection with the recent show.
Arthur Hooker, employed as a gardener by Mr. F. White, of “Eastry,” Tane, has been admitted to tho Pahiatua Public Hospital suffering from broken ribs sustained as a result of an unfortunate encounter t,ith a heifer. It appears that he wras taking cows in to be milked when a young heifer which was cornered on high ground made a jump and landod on Hooker, who was knocked over and trampled on. The accident was noticed by another employee named Ramsay, who quickly summoned assistance and had the victim taken to the house, the Pahiatua ambulance later conveyiug him to hospital, where he is now progressing favourably.
There were four demonstrations given to members of the Young Farmers’ Club at Pahiatua on Saturday last. Mr. H. R. Green (Kairanga) demonstrated on a champion Friesian cow, and Mr. J. B. Carruthers on how to break and handle a horse. Mr. A. C. Morton, of Massey College, spoke on Polled Angus cattle and followed a demonstration address on Romney sheep, the subject being a champion ewe, tho property of Mr. T. E. Hewitt, of Mangamaire.
