Wairarapa Wins Lamb Competition
; MANAWATU AND FEILDING COME NEXT Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. In the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board’s annual district competitions for the encouragement of the best type ni export lambs ten districts in the North Island sent entries this year, each district comprising 15 pens of three lambs each, making a total of 450 lambs. These made a distinctive display iD the central avenue of Smithfield. The board’s silver challenge shield went to the Wairarapa district. The judges said Wairarapa was outstanding. Manawatu was second, Feilding third and Poverty Bay fourth. The best three pens in the whole exhibit were also selected, and placings were: Wairarapa pen No. 12 (Wairarapa Training Farm, East Taratahi) 1 Manawatu'pen No. 709 (C. R. Hunt, Kairanga) 2, Wairarapa pen No. 1 (Estate B. Cooper, Gladstone) 3, Southern Hawke’s Bay pen No. 10 (Mrs. C. B. Riddell) highly commended.
