There were two junior A games at Terrace End Park where the wickets and outlieids were fast. 11. L. Young’s batted lirst against Kia Toa and were dismissed for the comparatively small total of 76. Houghton (33) and Bramwell (16 not out) were* the principal contributors, and the wickets were taken by Fletcher (3 for 22), Gerrard (4 for 41) and Bolt (2 for f). In reply, Kia Toa knocked up 223, Topee (51), Harvey (35), Gerrard (24), Brown (IS), Stanley (16 not out) and Bolt (16) all getting amongst the runs. The most successful bowlers were Hassell (4 for 47), Houghton (3 for 86) and Aitken (2 for 16). A few minutes before time for drawing stumps, H. L. The other game was between United and Massey College, and the Collegians secured a lead of 43 runs and then declared their first innings closed with nine wickets down. United knocked up 160, the run-get-ters being Wright (42), MoSweeney (29), Fisher (29) and Blenkinsop (21). The best bowlers were Campbell (5 for 51), Elley (2 for 20) and Kelly (2 for 57). The Collegians replied with 203 for nine, the best batsmen on the day being Kelly (59), Campbell (58), Davis. (17), Richards (16), Twigg (12) and Hopwell (11). Wright look four wickets for 17. SENIOR B Y.M.C.A. made 236 (Gendall 66, Bettle 34 not out, Laurenson 30, Edwards 29) in the match with United who had lost six wickets for 107 at stumps (Stewart 47, Howard 24). Combined Services hit up 147 (W. Millar 42, Wilson 30, Donovan 30) against Kia Toa who replied with 89 (Mullins 45). At stumps Services had lost 5 wickets for 64 runs (Wilson 37 not out) in their second strike. Among the bowlers G. Wasley (Kia Toa) took 6 wickets for 46 runs and Ilornibrook (Services) 5 for 32, W. Millar (Services) 2 for S and Ryan (Services) 2 for 12. Old Boys secured an S-point win over City, making 361 (Turnbull 103 including two 6’s', McNeile 82 including live 6’s, McCormick 54, Stubbs 34, Trow 20) to which City could only reply with 57 first innings and 61 for 6 wickets down in the second innings. Bowling for Old Boys Barraud took 5 wickets for 20 runs and Trow 2 for 1-4. Bowling for City, Burgess captured 4 wickets for 82 and Weston 3 for 63. \ JUNIOR A. High School first innings made 87 (Fletcher 32) against Combined Services who knocked up 207 (Gray 58 not out, Morgan 38, Wills 36, Oman 23). At stumps School had lost 4 wickets for 31 runs in their second innings. Bowling for Services Wills took 3 for 15 / , Morgan 2 for 18 and 2 for 1, Blummont 2 for 7. Bowling for School G. Anderson took 2 for 41 and Pegden 2 for 35.

Old Boys could only raise 77 (Clifford 28) against Optimists 210 (L. Zaloum 46, R. Zaloum 36, Kempson 36, Somerville 27). Second innings Old Boys had 49 runs on the board without loss (Cousins 34 not out). Bowling for Optimists, L. Zaloum took 3 for 41, Kempson 5 for 31, McNoble 2 for 1. Bowling for Old Boys, Walker took 3 for 43 and Mitchell 3 for 40.
