Cheltenham
From Our Own Correspondent. The Oheltenham-Waituna and District Primary Schools’ A.A.A. met at Cheltenham on Tuesday night to discuss matters rising out of the recent sports meeting. Mr A. B. Shannon presided over a representative gathering. The secretary reported that the sports showed a balance of over £4. Mr A. Lawson (Kimbolton) moved that a vote of thanks and congratulation be extended to all who were associated with the sports meeting, and especially to the; Cheltenham Sports Committee. This was seconded by Mr J. Old (Dunolly) and carried by acclamation. Mr A. B. Shannon suitably replied. It was decided to invite residents of the district to be present at the annual meeting, to bo held in November. The Cheltenham school was successful in winning the points trdphy in the vegetable class at the Waituna West Flower Show held last week. At a, well-attended meeting held on Wednesday nigrht, it was decided to form a Ping Porig Club. The following officers were elected: Patron: Mr J. Port; president Mr R. Petersen; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Humphrey and L. Murray; secretary, Mr T. Short; captain. Mr P. Petersen; committee, Messrs J. Anderson, D. Sinclair and Misses T. Anderson and T. Corkill. It was decided to commence play about the middle of April, the club to meet twice weekly.
At a general meeting of the Cheltenham Tennis Club on Wednesday evening, it was decided to hold a ball on April 6, and to engage Larkin’s Orchestra. Mr T. Short will be M.C., and a pleasant evening is assured.
